Stop and assess
Do not enter water near energized electrical equipment. Avoid contact with sewage or floodwater of unknown origin. Stop the source when it can be done safely and document affected areas.
Escalate the job
Professional assessment is appropriate when water is contaminated, materials are structurally soft, multiple rooms are affected, hidden cavities may be wet, or visible growth is extensive.
Drying is measured
Room RH alone does not prove that wood, drywall or insulation is dry. Restoration professionals use material readings, psychrometrics and a documented drying goal.
