FIELD NOTE 03 / INSTALLATION

Pump or gravity drain?

The glamorous world of deciding where several gallons of water will go every day.

01

Gravity is simpler

A downward-sloping hose to a suitable drain has fewer moving parts. It fails when the route rises, sags, freezes, clogs or terminates where discharged water can return toward the foundation.

02

Pumps create routing freedom

An integrated condensate pump can lift water vertically and reach a more suitable outlet. Check the rated lift height, hose length and what happens if the pump fails.

03

Plan for maintenance

Keep the filter and drain connection reachable. A perfect drainage plan that requires dismantling the crawl-space entrance for cleaning is not a perfect plan.
