FIELD NOTE 02 / SPECIFICATIONS

AHAM pints vs. saturation pints

Why one machine can be called both 60-pint and 145-pint without changing its compressor.

01

Use like-for-like numbers

Compare AHAM to AHAM. If a listing emphasizes only saturation capacity, find its AHAM figure in the specification table or manual before comparing it with another unit.

02

Temperature changes performance

Refrigerant dehumidifiers collect less water as the air becomes cooler. For crawl spaces, check the operating-temperature range and automatic defrost behavior.

03

Capacity is not coverage

Coverage claims assume particular conditions. Air leakage, ground vapor, standing water and layout can overwhelm a machine even when the floor area appears to fit.

WHEN EQUIPMENT FITS

Now compare the machine to the job.

Check AHAM capacity, operating temperature, drainage, filter access and warranty before price.
